History

1995  Master’s program established. The first degree-offering program in TCSL in Taiwan.

2003  Ph.D. program established.

2007  Department of Chinese Language and Culture for International Students established. The first undergraduate program in Taiwan to admit only international students.

2007  Master’s program of Overseas Chinese Education and Studies established

2012  Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and Department of Chinese Language and Culture for International Students were merged to become Department of Chinese as a Second Language.

2012  Master’s program of Overseas Chinese Education and Studies established was merged in Department of Applied Chinese Language and Culture.

2017  Department of Chinese as a Second Language and Department of Applied Chinese Language and Culture were merged in the name of Department of Chinese as a Second Language.

     Now Department of Chinese as a Second Language features two programs for bachelor degrees, Program of Chinese Language and Culture for International Students and Program of Applied Chinese Language and Culture, a Master’s program, a Ph.D program and several cross-disciplinary programs, including Program of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Program of Bilingual Education for Children, Online Master’s Program for Chinese Teachers Abroad.
